GBBC!

Blue Jay, Bill Reynolds, 2010
Well, today was the kick off to the 2011 Great Backyard Bird count.  What is the GBBC you ask, well here is their discription; The 2011 GBBC will take place Friday, February 18, through Monday, February 21. Please join us!  "The Great Backyard Bird Count is an annual four-day event that engages bird watchers of all ages in counting birds to create a real-time snapshot of where the birds are across the continent. Anyone can participate, from beginning bird watchers to experts. It takes as little as 15 minutes on one day, or you can count for as long as you like each day of the event. It’s free, fun, and easy—and it helps the birds."

I did my 15 minutes this morning and posted my results;  10 Cedar Waxwings, 3 Ravens, 5 Chickadees, 3 Redpolls, 1 Nuthatch, 1 Downy Woodpeck.  I was going to post 10 Barred Rock Chickens and 4 domestic geese, but I didn't think that was the focus of the count.  You can still participate if you wish.  Here's how....http://www.birdsource.org/gbbc/howto.html.
